Avenger by dtownley1 Avenger by dtownley1
I was going for a different style for this one. The inspiration for the style came from Windwaker/Kirby DS art.
I'm really pleased with the way this came out. BG took a while to get right, in the end, I had to draw exactly what I wanted and scan it in to be vectored.

No references for the pose, so it's not that great. But the style is different for me, so that's what I'm most happy with. Enjoy!

*PLEASE full view. There's a lot of texture in this, which even the full view doesn't display.

heheh, not a pokeball :P
It's a fan, but it's partly covered. It's the family symbol.
They use it as a play on words I believe. His surname is Uchiha, and the Japanese word for fan is uchiwa (I think)
A lot of anime tend to do things like that - most is lost in translation, as they say.

ah, well some Japanese fans look different. There's the ones which fold out (probably more common) and I think they're used for summer weather. There's another sort, which I believe are used for cooking - fanning fires and cooling rice - they're rounded like this one, and don't fold up. The handle in this symbol has been shortened I think. The white represents the handle and stem parts that support the shape, and the red would be made of paper.

oooooohhhh....

see now i understand what you mean. i think though its a little hard to understand in the image. maybe if you gave the fan a little more detail or maybe slap a cool Japanese looking design on the paper part it wouldn't look so much like a pokeball. i mean i hope i dont offend you when i say that, its just it is kinda hard to see what you are trying to portray. is all...

yeah, I know what you mean. Thing is, that's the actual symbol from the anime (same colours, shape) so I couldn't really do much with it. I couldn't really do much with the scale either. Ah well, always next time.

that texture was made through an assortment of photoshop brushes. A few preset ones, and some grunge ones I downloaded.
